When you create your listing, review and complete the Item specifics section for the item you're selling. In this section, you provide important details about your item.

Only use item specifics to describe the item you're selling, not for other information including your terms of sale or delivery details. Enter other information including your returns policy, delivery details and other information in the appropriate areas in the listing. For example, item specifics for a manufacturer's part number should only include part numbers, and not any other types of information.

To include item specifics in your listing:

  1. In the Item specifics section of the Sell your item form, enter the suggested details for your item. For example, select your item's brand from the Brand drop-down menu.

  2. If any item specifics have been pr-efilled for you, verify that they're correct. If not, revise them.

  3. Add other item specifics that apply to your item by clicking the '+' sign next to the item specific. Tip: To add your own custom detail, click the '+' sign next to Add your own item specific. For example, you might create an item specific called 'Material' and specify that your item is 'plastic'.

  4. Remove any details that don't apply to your item by clicking the Remove link next to the item specific.

You can add or edit the item specifics for individual listings from My eBay.

To add or edit item specifics individually:

  1. Click My eBay at the top of any page and sign in

  2. Click the All selling link

  3. Select the listings you want to revise, and then click the Edit button

  4. From the Actions menu, select Edit listings individually

  5. When you're finished editing a listing, click the Save and next button to edit the next listing

To add or edit item specifics in bulk:

  1. Click My eBay at the top of any page and sign in

  2. Click the All selling link

  3. Select the listings you want to revise, and then click the Edit button

  4. From the Edit drop-down menu at the top of the page, select Item specifics

  5. From the drop-down menu at the top of the next screen, select Edit listings in bulk

  6. Make the changes you want in the grid, and then click the Save and close when you're finished

To add or edit item specifics using Turbo Lister:

  1. Open Turbo Lister

  2. Choose the listings you want to edit by selecting the check boxes next to them

    Note: If you don't see the listings you want to edit, click the Synchronise now button in the button bar at the top of the screen

  3. From the Edit menu, select Edit item specifics

  4. If you have chosen items from multiple categories to edit, you'll need to edits the items in one category before moving to the other

  5. On the next screen, make the edits you want to each item

  6. When you're done, click Save

ISBN (Either ISBN-10 or ISBN-13. Exceptions apply for books published before 1970.)

Clothes, Shoes & Accessories*

Items need the following identifiers:

  • Brand

  • Size (This identifier does not apply to the Accessories category.)

  • Colour

Custom-made goods

No identifiers are required at the moment.

All other

At least 2 of the following 3 identifiers:

  • Global Trade Item Number (GTIN): the barcodes usually found on products bought in retail shops. Every item, from groceries to electronics, sold in retail locations typically includes this barcode. These include the European Article Number (EAN) or Universal Product Code (UPC).

  • Brand.

  • Manufacturer Part Number (MPN):any number which, in combination with the brand, uniquely identifies a product. Manufacturers use this number to manage their inventory and product lines.
